Today was
such an incredible and surreal day!
At 6:30am, our birth mom headed over to the hospital for her
induction. Our case manager said that at
about 8:30am she would begin texting us updates, but that we didn’t have to
head over to the hospital until she was getting close. That way we aren’t staring at C all day. So, we anxiously waited
at our hotel for each update. At 1:30pm
our case manager texted and said C was at 6cm dilated and to meet her in the hospital
lobby at 2:15. We left immediately and
when we were about 2 minutes away our case manager called and said, “she is ready to
push!” We rushed in and were whisked
upstairs and in to the delivery room. C
was calm and ready to go! Ben stood in
the upper corner of the room near her bed with our case manager and I stood
next to her and held her leg while she pushed.
It was such a whirlwind and within minutes the doctor walked in and
everything was ready to go. After one,
yes only ONE, big push Haven entered the world at 2:20pm!! It all happened so fast that I really
couldn’t even process my emotions, I just knew I was in LOVE! I sat at the edge of the bed with C for a few
minutes and Ben headed over to the other side of the room with the nurses to
say hello to Haven. After a few minutes,
I too, headed over to stare at her in awe as the nurses did all their
assessments. After their assessments
were done and she was all cleaned off they handed her off to me. It was the most surreal moments of my
life! I, then passed her off to Ben to
love on her. After a few minutes, C held
her and we all marveled over just how beautiful she is! The nurses then took her to the nursery and
Ben and I were able to follow along. I
fed Haven her first bottle, which she took like a champ. The nurses were so sweet and gave us some
time to enjoy her before they started the rest of their assessments. We were able to watch everything, from her
first shots, to her first bath. Ben and
I, just kept looking at each other talking about how absolutely beautiful she
is and how amazing C did with the delivery.
After she
was done in the nursery, we were able to take Haven to our room (the hospital
gave us our own private room) and were able to love on her for several
hours. We spent time praying over her
and just staring at her ;) . She is
seriously such a beautiful baby!!
We spent about 5 hours with her
before C called to see if we wanted to come watch a movie and eat dinner
together. We headed down to her room and
spent such a sweet time with her and the baby. We are
so grateful for this woman. She is one
of the strongest and most gracious women we have ever met.
Haven will spend the night with C tonight
and we are back in our hotel room to get one last sleep before we head back
early tomorrow morning. Our signing is
scheduled for late tomorrow afternoon.
We have such an incredible peace about tomorrow. A peace that can only come from the
Lord. He has been is every little detail
today and we are in complete awe of His faithfulness and provision. He is so good and we are so thankful for this
journey He has brought us on.
